QUILTER'S THREADS

www.quiltersthreads.com

Today was supposed to be the day, but we have technical problems beyond our control and our provider seems to be in no hurry to resolve them. we are now told that we can expect an answer to the problem we are experiencing within the next 18 hours, so we sit and wait. We are hoping to be back on line on May 15.

Join us tomorrow, May 15, 2007 in our new online store.

Please note: We are not through adding all of our pictures. If you are interested in an item, please contact us for the details. We may even be able to send you a picture.
Usually I will be sending a newsletter every two weeks, but since this was supposed to be our  opening day this is an exception.

Come and  join us and see what we are all about. We have fine threads for quilting and machine embroidery, many sewing notions, embellishments, patterns, ribbons and more. Please excuse the fact that we are still missing some pictures, even my grandchildren have been working on it. If you see something you would like to know more details about, drop us an email, give us a call at 425.513.0410 or 888.473.7821

If we do not have the color you want or the size you want , let us know. In many cases we can order it for you.

Also Kathy and I will take turns having specials for you. Not all of our inventory made it in time for the opening, so keep checking back as we will keep adding new things.

Diane's hint for this week

Sometimes people refer to me as the green pen lady. It is because when I go  to a class, I usually take along several give aways of my favorite tool. It is a Uniball or Pentel green pen. Just a plain green pen. Green ink is unstable and the ink that these two companies use has the wonderful property of being water soluble. I have ironed over the green pen markings on my quilts, I have left it in for months. The marks wash right out. That is how I mark applique seam allowances, applique placings, and quilt designs , I even write little notes to my self, like put a little flower here. Of course one of the things we bought for our inventory is our little green pens. Try one. Of course one of these days those guys are going to figure out how to make the green ink so it will not wash out, so every time you get a new pen, try it on a scrap of fabric first.

 About the Quilter

Quilt Diane Made From a Picture taken in Norway

Eldrid and I met in an online quilting guild in 2001. Carl and I were about to travel around Scandinavia, so Diane and Eldrid corresponded about what to see inn small fishing/farming village on an island off the coast. It was a wonderful experience and since then Eldrid and I have felt like next door neighbors.

She was asked to appear on Simply Quilts a couple of years later and after filming, Eldrid and Asbjørn came to Mukilteo Washington to visit us. Eldrid is an English teacher. Asbjørn is a fisherman in the deep, dark and cold North Atlantic. We are definitely family to each other.

Eldrid makes Liturgical garments and school banners on commission. Her quilts are unique and exciting, her fabric stash is crammed full and a mess like mine I have even sent her little pieces she needed for a quilt for her sister-in-law. She is an expert at photo printing on fabric and teaches online classes. Her web site is http://www.kameleonquilt.com. You will enjoy visiting it.

I received this large postcard sized quilt - about 8.5 x 6 inches - for my last birthday from her. I screamed when I took it out of the envelope and I am not normally a screamer. It is even more wonderful in person than on the web. And it is mine!

I saw this great monument in one of the high passes in Norway. It was wonderfully placed to emphasize the magnificent scenery.  Eldrid said it was part of an outdoor art project from the Olympics in Lillehammer. I made this quilt from the photo I took. It hangs in my home as a reminder of our trip. In a future project for our site, I am going to show how to do this by coaching Kathy through making a quilt of Crater Lake Oregon.

Coming Next Week

Next week we will be adding small packets of hand dyed fibers from Farm Fresh Textiles for your embellishment needs. Cherie Ekholm does a wonderful job with this and you will not be disappointed in her offerings. I will pick the products up from her this evening.

Remember We Open Tomorrow

Another Hint From Diane

Remember we cannot open today due to a technical problem with our provider. We expect to be open tomorrow. Use the little screwdriver that came with your machine to hold seams flat when you stitch across them.
